Earth Day Weekend Celebration @ Cincinnati Nature Center, Rowe Woods

Come enjoy our celebration of Earth Day this Saturday!

Bring your friends, neighbors and family for a visit to Cincinnati Nature Center’s beautiful Rowe Woods location!  Come hike a trail, feed fish and turtles at Powel Crosley Lake or participate in one of the many fun and exciting programs we are offering throughout the weekend. Our grounds are open from 8 am until 8 pm, and we are eager to host you for a wonderful weekend.

Bird Walk

8-10 am

Join us for a casual walk to observe the pageantry of birds along our trails. Beginners welcome. Bring your binoculars. Click HERE for more information or to register.

DIY Grow Your Own Native Wildflowers from Seed

10 am-3 pm

Experience the joy of growing your own native wildflowers to enhance your yard for pollinators and other wildlife. Drop in anytime between 10 am and 3 pm. Choose from 12+ species of wildflowers, fill a pot with soil, add seeds, label it and head home with inspiration and instruction sheets. Nature Center volunteers will be on hand to help you select the right plant species for your home. Click HERE for more information or to register.

Meet the Artist: Jaime Iliff

10-4 pm

Local potter, Jaime Iliff will be throwing clay in front of the Rowe Visitor Center to Celebrate Earth Day Weekend! Watch him as he masterfully combines Ohio Valley River clay, the ashes of rose petals and remnants of old whiskey bottles to create his unique stoneware.

Native Plant Sale

10 am-5 pm

Spring is a great time to venture out in your garden and plant some native flowers, shrubs and trees. Come to our Rowe Woods Visitor Center for some great purchases and spruce up your yard.

Monarch Trailside Station

10:30-11:30 am

Join us for an informal, drop-in experience. Come anytime between 10:30 and 11:30 am to our trailside station to learn about monarch butterflies. Free with admission.

Dragonfly Trailside Station

12:30-1:30 pm

Drop in anytime between 12:30 and 1:30 pm to our trailside station to learn about dragonflies. Free with admission.

Earth Day Art in the Nature PlayScape

1-2:30 pm

Join us for a drop-in program in the Marge & Charles Schott Nature PlayScape. Create your own artistic masterpiece out of recycled craft materials! Learn how we can re-use items and natural objects to make something beautiful. Click HERE for more information or to register.

Trail Yoga
Apr 27 @ 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

During this on-the-trail experience, participants will be guided through a flowing sequence near water, strengthening postures using a tree and walking meditation incorporating nature awareness. Click on the Tickets button for more information.

Conversations on Conservation: Basic Bugs 101 with Kristie Reddick from the Bug Chicks

In her informative and very entertaining way, entomologist Kristie Reddick from the Bug Chicks will help shed light on why and how we can embrace the diversity, uniqueness and intrinsic beauty of the insects which call our yards and gardens their home.
